Julian Wheelset:
These come set up with DT Swiss spokes and Formula hubs…annnd they’re 42mm. Formula hubs, as “cheap” as they are, have never let me down. As a whole these have far surpassed my expectations and are still rolling true. Theyre damn light yet still beefy. With how hard i am on my bikes im usually tuning my wheels every few days. I dialed these in after the first ride and havent touched them since! Actually…i did snap a spoke nipple after whipping into a Charlie Brown statue, but thats my fault . Commuting to work and on the bike trial these perform well, they’re smooth rolling and respond well when cranking hard.
We've been riding these wheels on the town bike for nearly a month now and they never fail to attract attention wherever I ride. 42mm rims will do that. Are they light? No, but they carry inertia all over the place and while you might pinch flat on a pothole, you're not likely to bend one of these rims.
First thing my friend John Robert did when he saw these on my bike was to pick up the front of the bike and spin the wheel, ostensibly feeling for any roughness in the bearings and to see how they spin. Hmm, pretty good says he (which is a major compliment, because John doesn't like anything).
EighthInch stocks lots of fixed gear parts in a lot of colors - like Formula hubs in 9 colors! Ironically, they're sold out of silver front hubs at the moment. They've got colors in just about everything, check out our flat 44mm wide bullhorns and Origin8 track grips. They felt great, and holy crap your hands aren't going to slip off these track grips.
